Peniche is not a region, but a very known area for surfing. Some of the spots are frequent locations in world surfing events.

Praia dos Frades & São Bernardino are two small bays south from Peniche that can offer some good quality waves a few days of the year. Best of this spot: is always empty.

Praia das Amoreiras (also known as Praia Formosa) is the very neighbour of the main beach of Santa Cruz and can catch good swell all year round

The beach of Santa Cruz is a big and long beach break that offers many different peaks. It is totally exposed so it gets too messy easily when swells are too big.

Consolação is both a reef and a beach break at the end of the bay where Supertubos is located. It only works with medium/big swells. The reef is only for advanced surfers.

Praia de Santa Rita is a beach break north of Santa Cruz. The sandbanks can move during winter so peaks can appear anywhere. It is a very exposed beach, so can have waves when everywhere else is flat.

Porto Novo is a small river beach about 20 km south of Peniche and next to Praia de Santa Rita. It offers unconsistent surf and just works when conditions are right.

Supertubos says it all on its name: it can translated as superbarrels, and is one of the best waves in Europe. If you are an advanced surfer that knows how to barrel, this is the spot to come to have it all.

Molhe leste is located at the northernmost part of Praia Grande in Peniche, next to Supertubos, and can offer barrels for advanced surfers if conditions are good. Spot is a bit unconsistent.

Praia do Cerro, in Peniche, is the left side of the big bay of Peniche. It offers surf almost every day and surprisingly can be working and do not suffer from overmassification.

Just in front of the parking of Baleal you will see a wave breaking when tide is mid-low. Lagide offers a very nice wave available for all levels of surfing if the swell is not too big.

Cantinho means “little corner” in portuguese, and that’s a legit description for this spot. Protected from too big north swells, Cantinho can give fun waves for all levels.

The beach of Areia Branca is a exposed beach break about 12 km south from Peniche. This spot can be a good option to catch some waves in winter without crowds at all.

Almagreira is located just a couple kilometers north from Baleal, and it is the spot the check if you want to escape crowds and have a nice and chill surf. Access is done through a unpaved road but it’s very easy.
